I love the Peak District. It’s one of my favourite places to visit, just a few hours away from where I live in the Lake District, so perfect for a weekend break.
So, when I was invited to stay at Bike & Boot, Hope Valley’s newest accessible hotel, I couldn’t wait to check it out. I’m now excited to share my review of Bike & Boot Peak District after staying in one of its wheelchair accessible hotel rooms.Â

Where is Bike & Boot Leisure Hotels Peak District located?Â
Bike & Boot has a fantastic location in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire. It’s near to both Castleton and Hope which are lovely little villages to explore.Â
It’s also ideally located for exploring the Peak District’s ‘Miles without Stiles’ - well-surfaced easy access walking / wheeling routes without stiles, steps, or steep gradients. Â
Find more information about these routes, as well as a range of other local places to go, visit, eat and drink in my list of 10 wheelchair accessible things to do in the Peak District.Â
Wheelchair Accessible Hotel Room at Bike & Boot Peak DistrictÂ
We stayed in two rooms - a wheelchair accessible double room with a connecting standard double room. The rooms were modern and spacious and with facilities including a Smart TV, desk/dressing table, wardrobe, hairdryer, coffee machine, and a well-stocked mini bar.Â
I love the quirky touches which really connect the hotel with the local area, from the artwork on the walls to the retro railway poster design on the window blind.Â
The accessible room has plenty of circulation space for wheelchair users, and a big comfy bed. I slept so well!Â
Bike & Boot is very pet friendly and they are welcome throughout the entire hotel. Pets are charged at £15 per pet per night. Poppy was delighted with her bed, towel, and ball!Â
Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom at Bike & Boot Peak DistrictÂ
Stylish, functional, spacious... Bike & Boot have ticked a lot of boxes with their wheelchair accessible bathroom. Â
The wet room shower has a folding seat, grab bars, an emergency alarm cord and a height adjustable shower head. There are two sinks at different heights and the toilet has plenty of grab bars.  Â
I loved how well the space had been thought out in the accessible bathroom. The shower controls and lovely Bike & Boot branded toiletries were easy to reach from the shower seat. The heated towel rail was just close enough to avoid soggy towels. There was plenty of space to use either the toilet or the shower area with a wheelchair transfer.Â
Bareca – Bar, Restaurant, Cafe at Bike & Boot Peak DistrictÂ
Level access from reception takes you to Bike & Boot Peak District’s Bareca. A Bar, Restaurant and Cafe hybrid serving Mediterranean classics, pizza, pasta, small plates & grills – craft beers, bespoke cocktails, coffees & smoothies.Â
No reservations are required, and Bareca is open to those staying at Bike & Boot as well as non-residents.Â
I loved the variety of the menu and felt I was spoilt for choice! I chose the whitebait for starters and Darren had chicken wings, which Poppy really wanted to share! For mains, I had my favourite comfort food; mac and cheese, and Darren had a tandoori chicken burger. Â
All the food we had was delicious, with excellent service and we loved the relaxed vibe of Bareca. The signature cocktails were also delicious, with many of the recipes having links to the local area. Â
Bareca has plenty of circulation space for wheelchair users, and I found the tables were at a good height for my manual wheelchair.  Public accessible toilets are available in the hotel's reception.

Facilities at Bike & Boot Peak DistrictÂ
One of my favourite things about Bike & Boot was its chilled vibe, there were lots of lovely places to hang out around the hotel. A cinema room with films shown each day, and a lounge for relaxing with complimentary hot drinks and cakes. Â
Outside, there's a designated grooming area for muddy pups, where you can wash and blow-dry them after a walk. There’s also a bike store with tools and a tyre pump, which can also be used for wheelchairs.Â
Breakfast at Bike & Boot Peak District
Bike & Boot offer a great Continental buffet breakfast with pancakes, hot bacon, boil your own eggs, breads, pastries, cereals, fruits, granola and yoghurts - and plenty fresh juices and hot drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed it!Â
